Thomas V.  Maguire

Thomas V.Maguire, 89, life long resident of Rutherford, passed away Monday August 11th, 2014. Born in1924 to Horatio and Josephine (nee Herold) Maguire in Scranton, PA.
Thomas was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Maintenance Supervisor at their NY Bulk & Foreign Mail Center in Jersey City, NJ for 10 years before retiring 30 yrs ago. He enjoyed traveling to places like Hawaii, Australia, Paris, Rome, England, Portugal, Spain Germany, Austria & Switzerland. Tom also had a passion for all types of live theatre; he loved and supported Broadway, Off Broadway and Community Theatre. He was a member of the Rutherford Guardsman and Fleet Reserve Association. He proudly enlisted in the United States Navy following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

Thomas will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Phyllis (nee Dellorto), his children, Thomas Maguire and his wife Beth, Bill Maguire and his wife Cynthia, Mary Anne Bonthron, Judith Maguire and grandchildren, Marissa Maguire and Atticus Maguire Judd. He was also the devoted uncle to Anthony Marino and Michelle Marino-Palma.


Funeral Friday 9:30 from Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford for 10:30 Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.
Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.

Family will receive friends and loved ones Thursday 2-4pm & 7-9pm

Donations may be made to some of Thomas’s favorite Charities,
The Salvation Army, The Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a Charity of your choice.
