Raffaele F.Asconi, 93, of Rutherford, formerly of Jersey City, passed away on Wednesday October 8th, 2014. He was born in Jersey City to Salvatore and Maria (nee Alfonsetti) Asconi.
Raffaele had proudly served in the US Navy during WWII Pacific Theater, where he served on the USS Braine (DD630) Support Ship. He received 6 Bronze Stars.
He had been employed as a Tower Operator for Colgate-Palmolive Inc. in Jersey City for 43 years before retiring in 1983.
One of Raffaele’s pleasures was making his delicious homemade wine for his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the NRA.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Nicolina (nee Ardito) Asconi, his children Maria Asconi and Patricia Mayo and her husband Joseph, his beautiful grandchildren, John and Nicole. Raffaele was one of 9 children in his family.

Funeral on Tuesday 8:30am from Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford for 10:00am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Holy Rosary Church, 344 6th Street, Jersey City.

Entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
