Obituary for Phyllis A. La Forge

Phyllis La Forge (nee Tabian), 93 years old, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 19, 2015 after a long and full life.
She was born to Michael and Anna Tabian in Passaic, NJ. In 1947 Phyllis married her husband, the love of her life Edwin, who passed away in 2006. During their 60
years of marriage, the couple resided in Rutherford, where they raised their six children.
Phyllis is deeply missed by her son Michael and his wife Renee, her daughter Marguerite and her husband Ralph, her son Edwin and his wife Kathy, her sons, Tom and his wife Sharon and Kevin and his wife Marge. She is predeceased by her daughter, Ellen La Forge (1992). She was a loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Phyllis’ greatest happiness and joy was her growing family, being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a natural listener, mentor, counselor and friend. No one ever left her home hungry. Her cheesecake, cheeseburgers, pot roast, fried chicken and fried baloney sandwiches were enjoyed by all!
Mom was kind, generous and helpful. She reminded us all each day to “mind your CP’s” (Catholic Principles)! She walked daily with God. Phyllis was a member of the Saint Mary Rosary and Alter Society in Rutherford.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to Phyllis’ personal caregivers and also to a family member Annette, who for the past three years was unrelenting in her love, care and loyalty to our mom.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday 8:30am from the Calhoun–Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, followed by 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Avenue, Rutherford.

Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack.
