Katherine “Kitty” Schneider (nee Snyder), age 93, of Rutherford, NJ. Born to George and Anna (nee Gavin) Snyder on 6/19/23 in NYC,NY
Katherine died peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, July 25th, 2016. Beloved wife of 64 years to the late Jeremiah Schneider, (2011), with whom she had 10 children, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Kitty and Jeremiah met in St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford, NJ. where they became High School sweethearts. Kitty graduated Georgian Court College in Lakewood, NJ receiving a BA degree in Education. She was a past member of the Rutherford Woman’s Club and a parishioner the Church of Saint Mary in Rutherford.
Kitty and Jeremiah owned and operated their family business; the RoadRunner Restaurant on Park Avenue in downtown Rutherford from 1971-1985.
Katherine is predeceased by her husband Jeremiah (2011) and their son George Schneider (1958), her son in law Walter Groux (2014), son-in-law Guy Blehl (2016) and her sister Ruth Ely. She will be deeply missed by her 9 children; Kit Groux, Ann Schneider, Nora Renzulli and her husband Richard, Meg Schneider, Jerry Schneider and his wife Helen, Sally Blehl, Mark Schneider, Louis Schneider, Bill Schneider, her 16 grandchildren; Daniel, Katie and Mary Groux, Kristen, Richard and Matthew Renzulli, Beth, Kari, Jeremiah, Michael, George, Alexandra, Christian, Grace, Sara Ann and Gavin Schneider and 4 great-grandchildren; Antonio Julian, James, Caroline and Harrison.
Family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00pm with Prayer Service at 6pm.
Funeral Saturday 8:30am from the Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford, NJ.
Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa,NJ.
